California: Ose Gets Farm Bureau’s Coveted Endorsement

Former Rep. Doug Ose has been endorsed by the California Farm Bureau Federation in a 4th district Republican primary battle that pits him against ex-state Sen. Rico Oller.

Both Ose and Oller have ties to the neighboring 3rd district. Ose represented it for three terms until he retired in 2004, and Oller finishing a close second to now-Rep. Dan Lungren in the 2004 3rd district GOP primary. Ose’s sister, Mary Ose, was also a candidate in that primary contest.

The CFBF is considered a key endorsement in California politics. The 4th district, which is solid Republican territory, opened up in January after Rep. John Doolittle (R) announced he was retiring.

Police Administrator Charlie Brown, the 2006 Democratic nominee, is running again for the Democrats.
