Singing for a Cause

From left: Then-Reps. Jim Martin (R-N.C.), Tom Hagedorn (R-Minn.), Trent Lott (R-Miss.) and Clair Burgener (R-Calif.) sing in a barbershop quartet during a Committee for the Survival of a Free Congress event in 1976. The group, founded in 1974 to help conservatives get elected, has since developed into the nonprofit Free Congress Foundation and has broadened in scope to address cultural and policy issues.
