New Mexico: Even-Handed Cheney Raises Money for Pearce

Vice President Cheney on Wednesday headlined a fundraiser for Rep. Steve Pearce, who is battling Rep. Heather Wilson for the Republican Senate nomination in the Land of Enchantment.

The evening fundraiser was held in Washington, D.C, and was projected to collect more than $50,000 for Pearce’s bid. The Pearce campaign said Cheney’s involvement in the fundraiser did not amount to an endorsement.

Last fall, Cheney headlined a fundraiser for Wilson’s House campaign account, which she is free to use to fund her Senate campaign. Pearce and Wilson are running for the seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Pete Domenici (R).
