Former Rep. Henry Hyde Dies

Former Rep. Henry Hyde (R-Ill.), the powerful conservative who chaired two House committees during his 32-year tenure and was a key player in some of the most emotional debates of his era, died this morning at the age of 83. Family members told the Chicago Sun-Times that the lawmaker, who retired from Congress at the end of 2006, had open-heart surgery earlier this year and never fully recovered.
