Press Club’s Annual Book Fair Is Wednesday

Sixty-six authors will sign books at the National Press Club’s 27th Annual Book Fair and Author’s Night from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the ballroom of the NPC, 529 14th St. NW.

The Friends of the National Journalism Library, a nonprofit organization that raises money for the NPC’s Eric Friedheim Library, runs the event.

Jennifer Yost, development and events manager for the Friends of the National Journalism Library, said the event will offer “a good mix of old and new authors.”

Yost said the event will feature some well-known authors like Joel Achenbach and George McGovern, as well as some authors “who are just blossoming.”

Since fewer authors are taking part in the book signing this year, the event will be “more intimate, allowing our guests to chat more with the authors,” Yost said.

Yost said the 68 books that will be sold at the event are a “great mix” of genres, including photography, history, cookbooks, fiction and children’s.

About 500 people attended the event last year, Yost said. “Our turnout has increased every year, and we are hoping for more people this year,” she said.

The event is free of charge for NPC members and is $5 for nonmembers. Tickets are available at the NPC or Olsson’s Books and Record locations, and will be sold at the event. For more information, call (202) 662-7564 or e-mail jyost@press.org.
