Mass Scheduled for Former Ways and Means Aide Davis

Memorial arrangements have been made for Albert Davis, the 20-year Capitol Hill veteran who served as a senior member of the Ways and Means Committee’s Democratic staff until his death May 30.

Davis’ family will receive visitors on Sunday at Murphy Funeral Home, located at 4510 Wilson Blvd. in Arlington, Va. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Catholic Church, 3304 Washington Blvd., in Arlington.

The family asks that contributions be made to a memorial fund at Swarthmore College or the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

A memorial service is being planned on the Hill, according to Ways and Means spokesman Dan Maffei.

Davis, the panel’s chief Democratic economist, died of injuries resulting from being hit by a car May 19 in Arlington. He never regained consciousness after being struck by a taxi while crossing the street near the Ballston Metro station.

An investigation is ongoing.
