McConnell Plans to Package Cybersecurity Bill With NDAA

Reacting to the recent security breach at the Office of Personnel Management, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday he would attach cybersecurity legislation to the National Defense Authorization Act.

“I think what Congress can do, as I suggested earlier, is offer the bipartisan cybersecurity bill that came out of the Intelligence Committee 14-1 on the defense authorization act,” McConnell said. “It might or might not deal with every aspect of what apparently happened a few days ago, but Congress is going to act on cybersecurity, on this bill in the very near future."

The CyberSecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015 passed the Senate Intelligence Committee in March.
