Elizabeth Brotherton


Elizabeth Brotherton writes the Heard on the Hill gossip column for Roll Call, where she chronicles the crazy antics, wild cocktail parties, bad fashion and simply odd moments that make Capitol Hill so unique. Elizabeth also frequently pens feature stories on the culture of Washington.

Prior to her current beat, Elizabeth reported a range of topics for Roll Call, including the Capitol Police, the D.C. voting rights movement, legislative branch appropriations and the Green the Capitol Initiative.

Her work has appeared in the Almanac of the Unelected, the Orange County Register and the Press-Enterprise. A Golden State native, she graduated from the University of Southern California with degrees in journalism and political science.

Brotherton no longer works at Roll Call.
