RollCall.Com Re-Launches With Enhanced Functionality and Services

Flagship Capitol Hill publication takes lead in multimedia Congressional coverage with new video features, real-time updates from Capitol Hill and daily podcasts.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Roll Call Group, Capitol Hill’s leading news source for coverage of the people, politics and process that shape the legislative landscape, announced today the re-launch of RollCall.com. The enhanced Web site offers fully integrated, user-friendly multimedia and enriched editorial content.

“For more than 50 years, Roll Call has been and continues to be Capitol Hill’s first source for Congressional news and analysis,” Editor-in-Chief Charlie Mitchell said. “The re-launch of RollCall.com takes this standard to a new level with the addition of exclusive new angles our readers haven’t seen anywhere else.”

RollCall.com utilizes the latest Web tools to bring the newspaper’s exceptional and award-winning content online. New features include:

  • First Draft: Up-to-the-minute reports on the House, Senate and political campaigns. This unique service is produced by a dedicated team of reporters and editors informing readers what is happening backstage as Senate leaders negotiate off the floor and as the House agenda evolves.
  • Mobile Edition: RollCall.com will be accessible in a mobile-friendly version when users go to www.rollcall.com through a PDA.
  • Roll Call Video: A rich variety of new video features covering developments on the Hill and in the pages of Roll Call newspaper, including “Lunch Break,” a noon update on the news – and advice on what to watch for – from Roll Call’s Web editor, Rachel Van Dongen. Viewers can also access the latest Roll Call staff appearances on C-SPAN every Monday and Thursday morning, as well as “Roll Call TV with Robert Traynham,” Roll Call’s weekly show airing on Comcast’s CN8. A video version of Roll Call’s popular Heard on the Hill column will also air each Wednesday.
  • Daily Podcasts: Featuring insights on each day’s newspaper and other important news, more from Heard on the Hill and a regular Politics feature.
  • Fully Integrated Group Content: Subscribers can now move between Roll Call and CongressNow, Roll Call’s legislative wire service, and capture legislative data from GalleryWatch, Roll Call’s comprehensive legislative tracking service.

“With the new RollCall.com, we are excited to provide our readers and advertisers the tools, data and access to understand and influence Congress,” Publisher Laurie Battaglia said. “This is an exciting new chapter in our sole mission to engage and deepen our unique relationship with Congressional opinion leaders.”
