Washington, D.C. (Feb. 28, 2008) -- Roll Call Senior Staff Writer Paul Singer will present a one-hour special segment entitled Roll Call's Earmark Report: what they are and how they are used by Congress, LIVE on C-SPAN's Washington Journal, Friday, February 29 at 8:30 AM (ET).

In the wake of several scandals involving Members of Congress, Congress implemented new rules for "earmarks," in an effort to bring more transparency to the process. Roll Call has extensively covered this new system and controversies surrounding earmarks.

"Roll Call is very excited to be featured on C-SPAN's signature morning show to examine and explain the debate over earmarks that's been raging on Capitol Hill," said Charlie Mitchell, editor of Roll Call. "Earmarks have been at the heart of some of the biggest scandals to hit Congress in decades and the issue has ignited heated rhetoric on the Hill and the presidential campaign trail. This is an important subject that goes to the heart of how Congress works and how the federal government delivers services to the public."

Roll Call is also dedicating an area on its website, RollCall.com, for off-air coverage of "Roll Call's Earmark Report." Found at www.RollCall.com/earmarks/, readers will find extensive information on earmarks. This section of RollCall.com will feature earmark analysis, recent original stories on earmarks by Roll Call's editorial team, a historical view of earmarks and what to expect in the future around this serious issue.
