The campaign of vulnerable Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) launched its first TV ad of the 2012 cycle today. The 30-second spot, which pushes back against the barrage of anti-McCaskill ads that have been on the airwaves, is backed by a $220,000 buy in major markets.
In it, a male announcer says, "They're not from around here, spending millions to attack and attack," backed by images of shady characters shaking hands. "But what they're doing to Claire McCaskill is nothing compared to what their special interest agenda will do to you."
"They want to end Medicare as we know it; Claire fights to protect it. They want more tax breaks for multimillionaires and oil companies; Claire cuts taxes for the middle class," the narrator intones, ticking off national Democratic talking points. "They back unfair trade deals for China; Claire says, 'make it in Missouri,'" the narrator ends.
