The ad will air on cable and broadcast stations in Champaign, Ill., according to the Democratic super PAC. The cable portion of the buy is at least $11,000, but House Majority PAC declined to comment on the entire size.
"Rodney Davis and tea party Republicans recklessly shut down the government, threatening our economy, throwing a tantrum just to score political points," says the 35-second ad, which features a crying baby. "Republicans are even threatening a government default of they don't get their way. Tell congressman Davis, 'No more tantrums.'"
Davis, who was elected in 2012 by one of the closest margins in the country, faces a similarly competitive election in 2014. He faces a primary from former Miss America Erika Harold, and the GOP nominee will likely take on former Judge Ann Callis, a top Democratic recruit.
President Barack Obama and GOP nominee Mitt Romney each received 49 percent of the vote in the district in 2012.
Illinois' 13th District is rated a Tossup/Tilt Republican contest by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.
