Clawson Loans $2.65 Million to His Special Election Campaign

A federal candidate has loaned his campaign $2.65 million for his April 22nd Republican primary race to fill the Florida 19th Congressional District seat vacated by former Rep. Trey Radel, R-Fla.  

Curt Clawson , R-Fla., reported  he raised $2,864,734 and spent $2,265,783 from January 1st to April 2nd. He reported he loaned his committee $2,650,000.  

Firman Total to Pro-Kreegel Super PAC Goes Over $900K

A Super PAC that has been active in spending in Florida's special election to fill the seat of former Rep. Trey Radel, R-Fla., had receipts of $1.1 million during the first quarter of the year.  

Values are Vital , a Super PAC, reported  it had receipts of $1,102,000 and disbursements of $1,985,008 from January 1 to April 2nd., leaving $126,991 cash on hand.

New Reports Show Big Checks Flow for Politics

If you thought money in politics was limited, take a look at the big checks from donors being reported by Super PACs, joint fundraising committees, and Section 527 groups.  

Year-End campaign finance reports of candidates and political committees are due today, and disclose financial activity for the last part of 2013. While there are limits on how much can be given directly to federal candidates and a political committees, the limits are higher when several committees set up a joint fundraising committee. For Super PACs, that do not give directly to candidates but make independent expenditures, there are no limits. For Section 527 groups, there are no limits.  

Million-Dollar Super PAC Could Impact Race to Fill Radel's Seat

A new super PAC has over $1 million in the bank and could make independent expenditures that have a big impact on the race to fill the seat vacated today by Rep. Trey Radel, R-Fla.  

Values are Vital, reported  it had receipts of $1,010,000 and no disbursements from 11/26 to 12/31. Treasurer Anthony Farhat of Cape Coral, Florida registered the super PAC on 11/26. In December, the treasurer was changed to Ronald Firman, with Anthony Farhat as chairman.
