An advocacy group with close ties to House leadership is launching a final push to pressure 29 Republicans to support the GOP health care plan ahead of an expected vote later this week.

Some of those lawmakers have indicated they won’s support the bill.

A federal three-judge panel in San Antonio invalidated three Texas congressional districts for violating the Voting Rights Act or the Constitution in a decision late Friday night. 

The districts, drawn by the Texas legislature in 2011, are GOP Rep. Will Hurd’s 23rd District, GOP Rep. Blake Farenthold’s 27th District and Democratic Rep. Lloyd Doggett’s 35th District.

The National Republican Congressional Committee has named 10 members to its Patriot Program for incumbents who are expected to face tough re-election races in 2018.

“Our Patriots are a group of battle-tested members who won hard-fought races in 2016 and are ready to win once again,” Rep. Steve Stivers, the NRCC chairman, said in a statement Wednesday.

Republican Rep. Will Hurd has won a hard-fought rematch battle against Democrat Pete Gallego in Texas’ 23rd District, The Associated Press projects. 

Hurd led Gallego 48 percent to 47 percent with 99 percent of precincts reporting.

The Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC backed by House Republican leadership, is pouring another $10.7 million into House races as the GOP seeks to defend their hold on the lower chamber and flip several Democratic-held seats. 

The additional spending brings the fund's general election expenditures this cycle to $20.7 million in 15 House districts, nearly twice what it spent in 2014 and 2012. The super PAC spent $11.6 million in 2014 and $10.7 million in 2012.

If Republican Barbara Comstock ever wonders what attacks are coming her way later this year, the Virginia congresswoman can read the entire 535-page opposition research book on her life, which Democrats posted online.  

Strategists at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee did not publish the document by accident. It’s just one example of how both parties publicly share information in order to avoid illegal coordination with outside groups and running afoul of campaign finance laws.
