Republican Governors Association Raises $24 Million

The Republican Governors Association,  a Section 527 political organization,  reported  it raised $24.1 million and spent $15.6 million during the second quarter of 2014.  

Major donors included David Koch , executive VP, Koch Industries (NY) $2.5 million; Sheldon Adelson , CEO, Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NV) $2.5 million; and Ken Griffin , CEO, Citadel Group (IL) $1.5 million.  

Koch's Freedom Partners Action Fund Registers as Super PAC

A new Super PAC related to operatives of Koch Industries has registered  with the Federal Election Commission to make independent expenditures during the 2014 elections.  

Freedom Partners Action Fund  is based in Arlington, Virginia, with Thomas F. Maxwell as treasurer. The group registered as a Super PAC to raise funds in unlimited amounts, not to make contributions directly to federal candidates, but to make independent expenditures for or against candidates.  

Cantor Spends $1 Million, Koch Contributes

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., reported spending over $1 million during April and three weeks in May, prior to his upcoming primary on June 10th. National donors, such as David Koch, and interest groups helped fund his campaign.  

Cantor for Congress, the campaign committee of Rep. Eric Cantor , R-Va., reported  it had receipts of $449,300 and disbursements of $1,002,774 from April 1st through May 21st, leaving $1,500,911 cash on hand.  

Republicans Take In Koch Money, Democrats Still Carry Debts

The six national party committees reported improved financial conditions by the end of February, but some committees still carry debts, and one committee received more than $100,000 from members of the Koch family and their company.  

The four Congressional committees benefited from PACs paying their yearly dues. Each brought in more than $1 million from PACs and other committees.
