President Donald Trump said in an address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday that if the United States has to defend itself or its allies against Kim Jong Un’s regime, the U.S. “will have no choice but to destroy North Korea.”

President Barack Obama on Thursday warned that North Korea’s young leader is hell bent on developing a nuclear weapon , even as that country criticized his planned Friday visit to a site where the United States once dropped an atomic bomb.  

Obama called the mostly isolated country’s pursuit of a nuclear weapon a "big worry for all of us," even while saying U.S. officials believe “they’re not at a point right now that they can effectively hit U.S. targets.”

Likely Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton continues to keep one eye on her expected general election foe, saying Wednesday that Donald Trump ’s willingness to talk to North Korean leaders shows he is “ill-prepared” to be president.  

Clinton was reacting to this comment the presumptive GOP nominee made about Kim Jong Un in an interview with Reuters : "I would speak to him, I would have no problem speaking to him.”
