Donald Trump’s administration will feature a host of emboldened immigration hard-liners plucked from Congress, chief among them Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, the president-elect’s pick for attorney general.

Sens. Richard J. Durbin, D-Illinois, and Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, are working to draft legislation to give young undocumented immigrants legal status.

The action comes after President Barack Obama said he would not take action to pardon DREAMERs — undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children who meet the requirements of the Development, Relief, and Education for Minors Act — before he left office.

The Senate blocked a plan Tuesday to spend $1.1. billion to fight the Zika virus, as Democrats objected to added provisions that would limit funding for birth control, allow pesticide spraying near water sources, and raise the Confederate flag.  

The conference report on Zika spending, which Democrats said was developed without their input , failed to receive the 60 votes needed to shut off debate.

Led by Minority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Democrats are calling on the GOP baseball team to play a man down at Thursday night's Congressional Baseball Game .  

"If the Republicans believe the Supreme Court can consider some of the most important issues of our time without a full roster of justices, then they should have no problem competing without a full Republican squad of players on the field," the Nevada Democrat said in a statement provided to Roll Call.

One of these things is not quite like the other.  

Senate Minority Whip Richard J. Durbin emerged from the Supreme Court Monday saying the outcome of litigation over President Barack Obama's executive action on immigration was "totally uncertain."
