PHILADELPHIA — Democratic discontent with Hillary Clinton was on full display at the California delegation breakfast Monday morning ahead of the first night of the Democratic National Convention.

Members of the delegation repeatedly disrupted the lineup of speakers, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, with protestations against Clinton and cheers for her erstwhile primary rival, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Manafort Denies Melania Cribbed Michelle Obama's Speech
Trump campaign chairman blames Hillary Clinton for stirring up story

Melania Trump used, "common words and values," in a Republican National Convention speech that paralleled remarks by Michelle Obama in 2008, and to think that the address was plagiarized is "crazy," Trump campaign Chairman Paul Manafort said Tuesday morning.

"There's no cribbing Michelle Obama’s speech," Manafort told CNN. "These are common words and values, that she cares about her family. Things like that. I mean she was speaking in front of 35 million people last night. She knew that. To think that she would be cribbing Michele Obama’s words is crazy."

It’s been called everything from “the best location in the nation” to the “mistake by the lake,” from “the best governed city in the United States” to the “buckle of the Rust Belt.”

People have made sport of it “for years and years and years,” as the local congresswoman, Democrat Marcia L. Fudge, puts it, over the weather, the pollution, the economic misery and, especially, the sports.

A Republican delegate clearly doesn't want to vote for Donald Trump.

Virginia delegate Carroll Beau Correll Jr. told NBC's Washington affiliate, News4, that he'd rather be arrested  than suffer that fate. And he's filed a lawsuit claiming that a law requiring him to vote for the presumptive Republican nominee is unconstitutional.

A fortress-like prison that has been the backdrop for horror movies will be opened in case of mass arrests during the Democratic National Convention. The move is one of several extraordinary steps city officials in Philadelphia and Cleveland have taken to brace for the events.

Tens of thousands of demonstrators are expected to swarm into both cities during the party conventions next month, prompting concerns about potential violence or even terrorist attacks. Republicans meet in Cleveland July 18-21 while the Democrats gather in Philadelphia July 25-28.
