Senate Republicans — looking to ride the momentum of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation into the November midterm elections — criticized the “angry mobs and intimidation tactics” that protesters employed last week.

Meanwhile, Democrats focused on the issue of health care, accusing Republicans of putting the interest of insurance companies ahead of the American public.

President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team early Tuesday announced that he would nominate ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson to serve as his secretary of State.

“His tenacity, broad experience and deep understanding of geopolitics make him an excellent choice for Secretary of State,” Trump said in the announcement. “He will promote regional stability and focus on the core national security interests of the United States.”

PHILADELPHIA — Every couple of minutes, it seems to Daniel Hernandez, someone stops him to ask about gun violence.  

Hernandez is a former intern for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. He helped save the Arizona Democrat's life after she was shot in the head at a constituent event in 2011.

Sen. Christopher S. Murphy announced Tuesday the first set of candidates his new political fund will back in an effort to elect more lawmakers dedicated to combating gun violence.

Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., who led a filibuster for stricter gun laws after the Orlando nightclub massacre, will fulfill a promise to push the issue on the campaign trail.  

On Thursday, Murphy launched the "Fund to End Gun Violence," which will back House and Senate candidates. Endorsements are expected in coming weeks and months, according to a news release.
