U.S. Chamber Endorses Kerry Bentivolio's GOP Challenger

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce endorsed attorney David Trott in his Republican primary challenge to freshman Rep. Kerry Bentivolio of Michigan's 11th District.  

Bentivolio is one of the most vulnerable incumbents of the cycle . Many on Capitol Hill refer to him as an "accidental congressman" because he came to Washington, D.C., in the aftermath of ex-Rep. Thaddeus McCotter's 2012 ballot implosion .

Democratic National Committeewoman Debbie Dingell is expected to announce her candidacy for Michigan's 12th District on Friday, according to multiple news outlets .  

The news comes only a day after her husband, Rep. John D. Dingell, D-Mich., announced his retirement from the House after 29 full terms. Debbie Dingell was widely expected to make this decision, and Democrats have long viewed her as a likely candidate to succeed her husband.

For the first time in 81 years, Michigan Democrats are contemplating a Congress without a Dingell .  

Maybe not.

Updated 11:32 a.m. | Rep. John D. Dingell, the longtime Michigan Democrat and dean of the House, will announce on Monday that he will not seek re-election.  

“I’m not going to be carried out feet first,” Dingell said in an interview with the Detroit News .

House Minority Whip Steny H. Hoyer has jam-packed several campaigning events and fundraisers over recess on behalf of House candidates.

The Maryland Democrat's tour will take him to Michigan, Ohio and Massachusetts, where he will campaign and fundraise for a handful of House contenders and one incumbent over the next few days.
