Katherine Clark Wins Massachusetts Special Election

Democratic state Sen. Katherine M. Clark handily defeated GOP attorney Frank Addivinola in Massachusetts' 5th District special election Tuesday night.

Clark defeated Addivinola, 64 percent to 34 percent, with 35 percent of precincts reporting, according to The Associated Press.

Elizabeth Warren to Campaign in Massachusetts Special Election

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., will boost state Sen. Katherine Clark's special election bid next week with a campaign event in the 5th District.

On Wednesday afternoon, Warren will join Clark at Framingham State University for a "GOTV Kickoff Counting Down to Election Day," according to the Democrat's campaign.

House Minority Whip Steny H. Hoyer has jam-packed several campaigning events and fundraisers over recess on behalf of House candidates.

A week of rapid-fire congressional special elections kicks off Tuesday with a primary in Massachusetts' 5th District, followed by two more contests in the following days to fill vacant seats on Capitol Hill.

State Sen. Katherine Clark, one of five Democrats running in a special election in Massachusetts' 5th District, announced Tuesday that she has the endorsement of Rep. Allyson Y. Schwartz, D-Pa.

Schwartz, who is running for governor in the Keystone State in 2014, praised Clark's support for women's issues in her endorsement.

Two Democrats Rake in $600K in Massachusetts Special Election (Updated) | #MA05

Updated 7:12 p.m. | Middlesex County Sheriff Peter Koutoujian and state Sen. Katherine Clark, two of the five Democrats running in an upcoming special election primary in Massachusetts' 5th District, raised more than $600,000 each in the past three months.

Koutoujian raised about $610,000, while Clark pulled in $616,000, which includes a $250,000 personal loan to her campaign, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission. Koutoujian reported $690,000 in cash on hand less than two weeks out from the Oct. 15 primary, while Clark reported $390,000.

Sheriff Releases Ad in Wide-Open Massachusetts Special | #MA05

Middlesex County Sheriff Peter Koutoujian, one of five Democrats running in a special-election primary in Massachusetts' 5th District, released his first ad of the campaign, less than three weeks before the Oct. 15 primary.

The 30-second spot touches on Koutoujian's stance on gun control, Social Security and women's rights. The campaign says the "six-figure buy" will air on cable and broadcast stations in the 5th District, located in the suburbs of Boston.
