Is This a House Race, or Just a Rumor?

In what is already a strange cycle, operatives on both sides are bracing for surprises on election night.  

Rumors flew last week about a surprise poll or errant television reservation that could spell doom for an incumbent considered a safe bet for re-election a week ago.  

Internal Poll Shows Kansas Republican With 12-Point Lead

A new poll from Rep. Lynn Jenkins' campaign shows the Republican with a 12-point lead over her Democratic opponent.  

The poll, provided first to CQ Roll Call, showed Jenkins ahead, 49 percent to 37 percent, over Democrat Margie Wakefield. Another 6 percent of respondents said they would vote for the Libertarian candidate, and 8 percent said they were undecided in the survey.  

EMILY's List Endorses Kansas Candidates

EMILY’s List, an organization that backs female Democratic candidates who support abortion rights, announced Thursday a pair of endorsements in two late-breaking House races in Kansas.  

The group offered its full endorsement of Margie Wakefield and Kelly Kultala, who are challenging GOP Reps. Lynn Jenkins and Kevin Yoder, respectively.  

Kansas: Court Issues Map, Redistricting Over

The nation's decennial redistricting process finished late Thursday night when a federal court in Kansas released the state's new Congressional map.

Despite the political drama leading up to the court's decision, the new Kansas map doesn't make any sweeping changes to the state's Congressional lines.

Between the Lines: Federal Court to Take Up New Kansas Map

A federal court will take up the new Kansas Congressional map May 29, while the Republican-controlled state House will make a last-ditch effort to rescue the mapmaking process.

The court's imminent redraw is unpredictable, but it's likely at least one of the state's four GOP Members will get a more competitive district under the new map.
