DCCC Announces 26 Members on Frontline Incumbent Retention Program

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel named 26 of his colleagues to the Frontline program, a committee program designed to protect their most vulnerable incumbents.

“We call this program Frontline for a reason – these Members are on the vanguard of protecting and expanding the middle class,” Israel said in a written statement released Tuesday morning.

California: Norman Solomon Concedes, Paving Way for Jared Huffman

Democratic activist Norman Solomon conceded the 2nd district primary Tuesday, despite the difference between him and the second-place finisher narrowing as the count of outstanding votes continued.

“While the 172-vote gap is expected to narrow still further as Sonoma County processes its final outstanding ballots, it has become numerically very unlikely Solomon will overtake Roberts as these few remaining ballots are tallied,” a campaign release stated.

California: Internal Poll Shows Close 2nd District Race

An internal poll commissioned for Democratic activist Norman Solomon in California's open 2nd district found him in position to advance beyond the June 5 primary, with several other Democrats close behind.

The race to replace retiring Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D) will most likely be between two Democrats under California's new top-two primary format, in which two candidates no matter their party may advance to the general election.

Crowing campaigns are beginning to leak their first-quarter fundraising numbers. Generally, any campaign releasing its fundraising numbers this early is happy with its totals. Reports must be postmarked by midnight Sunday.

California: Internal Jared Huffman Poll Finds a Race for Second

It's a race for second place in Northern California's coastal 2nd district, according to an internal poll for state Assemblyman Jared Huffman's campaign.

The Democrat holds a wide lead in the 12-candidate all-party primary with 24 percent, followed by fellow Democrats Stacey Lawson with 9 percent, Norman Solomon with 7 percent and Susan Adams with 5 percent. Dan Roberts and Michael Halliwell, the only two Republicans in the race, took 5 percent each.

Former TV talk-show host Phil Donahue is headlining a fundraiser on Capitol Hill tonight for 2nd district candidate Norman Solomon.

Reps. John Conyers (Mich.) and Raúl Grijalva (Ariz.) are hosting the 6 p.m. event at the Mott House on Maryland Avenue Northeast. Minimum contributions are $100.
