Word on the Hill: Trump in Town

This afternoon, presidential candidate Donald Trump is addressing the 11^th annual Values Voter Summit in the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington. On Saturday, vice presidential candidate Mike Pence will speak. This is the first time a Republican presidential ticket has addressed the event.

Senators Tim Scott, R-S.C., James Lankford, R-Okla., and Tom Cotton, R-Ark., are also slated to speak along with Reps. John Fleming, R-La., Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., and Louie Gohmert, R-Texas.

Clooney is Coming to D.C.

George Clooney is presenting the findings of an investigation into South Sudan, an initiative called The Sentry, at the National Press Club from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday. The former most eligible bachelor will discuss the findings of nearly two years of following South Sudan’s economy, followed by a Q&A session with The Sentry’s co-founder, activist John Prendergast. The Sentry’s goal is to disrupt and dismantle the networks of those who benefit from South Sudan’s conflict.

ICYMI: Hunger in Rayburn

A one-day exhibit in the lobby of the Rayburn House Office Building went up on Wednesday consisting of posters depicting hunger in all 50 states. September is Hunger Action Month and Feeding America — an organization that raises awareness about U.S. hunger — hosted the exhibit. The group worked with the House Hunger Caucus and celebrity Chef Rocco DiSpirito, who led a group to Bread for the City in Southeast to distribute groceries after the unveiling.

Rep. Ander Crenshaw’s communications director Barbara Riley is leaving to be the communications director at the American Forest and Paper Association.
