A circus descended on the Republican National Committee headquarters in Washington on Thursday ahead of Donald Trump's meeting with House Speaker Paul D. Ryan and other GOP leaders.
Trump met with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other GOP senators after meeting with Ryan.
Establishment Republicans haven't fully embraced the party's presumptive presidential nominee and are under pressure to endorse him to help unite the divided party.
Around 8:30 a.m., demonstrators with the anti-war protest group CODEPINK began to arrive, including one man who wore a giant paper maché head of Trump and waved a bag of money.
Another throng of protesters arrived shortly afterward, chanting, "undocumented, unafraid," in opposition to Trump's proposal to deport millions of undocumented immigrants.
"We are the dreamers, the mighty, mighty dreamers, " they shouted to the tune of a rally chant from the movie Remember the Titans.
An onlooker shouted at the protesters to shut up.
Media surrounded two sides of the Republican National Committee building, aiming their cameras at the front door and back alleyway to get a shot of Trump entering the building. Staffers and onlookers gathered across the street, hoping to catch a glimpse of the action.
There was a minor car accident when a driver who appeared to be taking photos of the media rear ended another car.
Even some members of Congress got in on the action.
Rep. Robert W. Goodlatte, R-Va, and Rep. Candice S. Miller, R-Mich, stopped to snap cell phone pictures. And Rep. Lou Barletta, R-Pa, walked by with his dog.
