EMILY's List has endorsed Rep. Betty Sutton and three other Congressional candidates in competitive races.
EMILY’s List has endorsed four Congressional candidates in competitive races.
The group, dedicated to electing pro-choice Democratic women, announced today it had upgraded former Minnesota state Sen. Tarryl Clark, former Connecticut state Rep. Elizabeth Esty, Rep. Betty Sutton (Ohio) and former Rep. Dina Titus (Nev.) from the “On the List” designation. The full-blown endorsement means the group will raise money for the candidates and help with bundling donations.
All four are considered credible candidates for Congress but none have clear paths to winning seats in the House.
It is anyone’s guess as to how Minnesota redistricting lines will be drawn, but Clark is one of several Democrats looking to challenge Rep. Chip Cravaack (R).
Esty is in a fierce primary in Connecticut's 5th Congressional district. The support of EMILY’s List is crucial, as her competition for the Democratic nod includes state Speaker Chris Donovan and Dan Roberti, who has shown fundraising prowess early in the campaign.
“Their commitment to stopping the radical GOP agenda is firing up women voters across the country who are sick of the GOP ignoring the needs of middle class families,” EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock said in a press release.
