As executive director of the NRCC, Harrison directed the Republican takeover of the House in 2010 and helped the party hold its majority in 2012.
Martin is a former chief of staff to Gov. Matt Blunt, son of Senate Republican Conference Vice ChairmanRoy Blunt, and previous House candidate. The race for the position was close, with Martin winning narrowly.
“Martin, of St. Louis, won the seat on a 34-32 vote, edging out David Cole, a Cassville attorney who has held the post since January 2009,” according to the Joplin Globe newspaper.
Other members elected to the state party’s leadership included Vice Chairwoman Trish Vincent, Secretary Pat Thomas and Secretary and Treasurer Richard Peerson.
Aviva Bowen, district director for Rep. Mike Quigley, D-Ill., has taken a job as communications director at the Illinois Federation of Teachers.
Bowen is based in Chicago and has been with Quigley since he was sworn in to Congress in 2009 after winning a special election. She took a leave in 2010 to serve as communications director for Dan Seals in the 10th District. In the final weeks of the 2012 election, Bowen ran communications for Illinois Democratic Rep. Bill Foster’s successful campaign to return to Congress.
Bader Heads to RSLC
Jill Bader has been named communications director to the Republican State Leadership Committee.
She worked on campaigns for Tennessee Republican Sens. Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker, as well as for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. The RSLC works to elect Republicans to state legislatures.
