Mitt Romney supporters Thursday afternoon unveiled a new “super” political action committee that will focus exclusively on bolstering the former Massachusetts governor’s presidential candidacy.
The board of the Restore Our Future PAC, includes Washington, D.C., attorney Charlie Spies, who will serve as treasurer. Also serving on the board are Republican strategists Carl Forti and Larry McCarthy. Forti served as Romney’s political director during his unsuccessful 2008 campaign for the GOP presidential nomination. McCarthy was a part of Romney’s media team during that campaign and Spies served as CFO and counsel.
“President Obama has failed to fix the problems that affect Americans,” Spies said in a statement accompanying the press release. “Restore Our Future will support a candidate who has worked in the private sector, who has created jobs, who understands the economy, and who believes America can succeed by the power of the American workforce. Restore Our Future will support our next president, Mitt Romney.”
Several Democratic super PACs have been formed in recent months to help boost President Barack Obama’s re-election bid.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson appears at the Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church on M Street Northwest for a pre-rally before a march to the White House to protest what is seen as President Barack Obama's lack of action in addressing a variety of problems in black communities.
