Gallegos, superintendent of the House Daily Press Gallery, will retire on Aug. 6 after 44 years of service.
Olga Ramirez Kornacki, director of the House Radio-Television Correspondents’ Gallery, worked with Gallegos a decade later to ensure reporters had greater technological access to the chamber. Gallery staff, led by Gallegos, implemented rules for the use of laptops and mobile devices in the House gallery.
“He was always a strong advocate for his membership,” Kornacki said in a statement to CQ Roll Call. “He will be missed.”
Gallegos had not responded to requests for an interview as of press time.
