North Carolina: Ethan Wingfield Launches Ad in 11th District

Ethan Wingfield, a 26-year-old Republican businessman, will begin airing a 30-second TV ad in North Carolina’s 11th district on Monday, aiming to introduce himself to voters before a crowded GOP primary on May 18.

Wingfield’s ad, which is backed by a $25,000 week-long buy on cable and broadcast TV across the district, shows him standing in front of a white background next to an easel pad with graphics drawn on it.

“I’m Ethan Wingfield,” he says, backed by jazzy Muzak. “What’s happening in Washington isn’t just wrong, it’s immoral. Trillions borrowed from countries like China; millions jobless. And for one of the first times in American history, debt: 100 percent of GDP.”

“Scripture tells us, ‘the borrower is slave to the lender,’ but Washington hasn’t read that, or doesn’t care,” he says, next to a written quote from the Book of Proverbs.

“I’m Ethan Wingfield,” he says. “I approve this message because it’s time to for America to change Washington, instead of the other way around.”

Frontrunner Mark Meadows, a real estate investor, begin airing an ad this week. Roll Call rates the open-seat race to succeed retiring Rep. Heath Shuler (D) as Likely Republican.
