Chaffetz Recovering from Surgery
Says he’ll ‘absolutely’ be back
Rep. Jason Chaffetz underwent successful foot surgery at the University of Utah and is now recovering.
Chaffetz had previously said he was having surgery to remove screws and a metal plate doctors installed 12 years ago after he broke his foot in a fall while working in his garage.
“His physician advised him that it was imperative he receive surgical treatment before further complications arose,” said Suzanne Winchester, a spokeswoman from the University of Utah Hospital, where Chaffetz had surgery.
“The surgery was successful and he is now resting comfortably,” Winchester said, according to Fox 13.
Chaffetz told the Salt Lake Tribune he would return to Congress after being out of commission for three to four weeks.
“Absolutely. No doubt about it,” he said.
The congressman announced before his surgery that he would not run for re-election or for any other office in 2018.
