Legal figures and lawmakers, along with Catholic church leaders and Associate Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s extended family filled the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Saturday for what Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington, called “a simple, family parish Mass.”

Scalia, who served nearly 30 years on the court, died a week ago while on a hunting trip in Texas.
