Pelosi and Delegation Travel to Israel

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and a Congressional delegation traveled to Israel on Sunday to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the California Democrat said in a statement.

The delegation had been in Iraq the day before.

Pelosi, seven House Democrats and Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (R-Md.) were in Israel to discuss the two nations’ relations and regional security issues, according to the statement. The delegation also observed the nation’s memorial day for fallen soldiers and the 63rd anniversary of the founding of Israel in 1948.

Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with President Barack Obama at the White House on May 20. He is also expected to speak before a joint meeting of Congress during his visit to Washington, D.C.
