A Congressman who was not in many headlines during most of the third quarter appears to have spent some time on fundraising as his campaign committee reported raising over $1 million.
Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., reported his campaign committee raised $1,173,587 and disbursed $750,483 during the third quarter, leaving $2,609,914 cash on hand as of 9/30. The committee itemized $641,954 from individuals and $190,500 from PACs and other committees. The committee received transfers of $265,471 from the Ryan-NRCC Victory Committee, and $45,338 from Ryan Prosperity Action Inc., both joint fundraising committees.
This is the second consecutive quarter the committee has raised more than $1 million. The committee raised $1,106,812 in the second quarter of 2013.
The committee spent $285,550 on direct mail fundraising, and transferred $225,500 to the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Donors included Cintas Corp. chairman Richard Farmer; Haley Barbour (partner, Capitol Resources, MS); John Lechleiter (CEO, Eli Lilly & Co., IN); Reynie Rutledge (chairman, First Security, AR); David Simon (CEO, Simon Property Group, IN); Witt Stephens (CEO, The Stephens Group, AR); Gloria Bohan (president, Omega World Travel, VA); P.W. Foster (CEO, Long & Foster Realtors, VA); Robert Livingston (partner, The Livingston Group, VA); and Dick Monfort (vice chairman, Colorado Rockies, CO); among others.
The committee also received $70,200 from 64 executives and employees of Northwestern Mutual, which is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Northwestern Mutual Federal PAC gave $5,000.
Ryan is chairman of the House Budget committee and also sits on the House Ways & Means Committee.
