The House Small Business Committee wants to make it easier for little companies that may lack Washington savvy — and pricey lobbyists — to vent their opinions on federal regulations that will affect them.
So the panel on Thursday is launching a Regulatory Watch website that will highlight proposed regulations. The website, smallbusiness.house.gov/RegWatch, also provides a link to comment on the proposals and the deadline for submitting such comments.
The committee site links to an existing comment page at regulations.gov, which was already publicly available.
“Most small businesses don’t have lawyers or lobbyists who focus on regulatory compliance like larger corporations may have,” Small Business Chairman Sam Graves, R-Mo., said in a press release.
His committee has also pledged to regularly communicate with small-business owners through email, social media and in district events, the announcement said.
A Democratic committee spokesman said the panel’s Democrats are glad Republicans find the Obama administration’s regulations.gov website useful. “It is nice to see the House Republicans finally giving the president credit for his work to reduce regulatory burden for small businesses,” the spokesman said.
