The Business Roundtable has snagged veteran lobbyist and political strategist Bill Miller as senior vice president in charge of its outreach to Capitol Hill and the Obama administration.
Miller joins the trade association from the corporate communications firm the Brunswick Group. Before joining Brunswick last year, Miller put in a dozen years at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where he served most recently as senior vice president for political affairs and federal relations as well as national political director. In that post, Miller helped oversee a dramatic expansion of the chamber’s election-related and grass-roots political activities.
Miller “brings a vast network of political and business community contacts” to the Business Roundtable, President John Engler said in a statement.
He added: “The CEOs of BRT recognize the agenda in front of Congress for 2013 will be incredibly daunting. With the addition of Bill to our leadership team, the Roundtable strengthens its ability to play a leading role in addressing our nation’s challenges.”
Miller’s previous posts include chief of staff to former Rep. Constance Morella (R-Md.). He’s been a regular commentator on ABC’s “World News,” CNBC and CNN’s “Inside Politics,” among other outlets.
