Crossroads GPS today will begin airing its third advertisement targeting Iowa Rep. Leonard Boswell (D), who is facing off against Rep. Tom Latham (R).
The new spot from the deep-pocketed conservative group ties Boswell to President Barack Obama through his votes for the stimulus bill and the health care overhaul law, according to a copy of the ad obtained exclusively by Roll Call.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myO98FkQcvs Iowa's population growth lagged over the past decade, so an independent redistricting commission redrew the Congressional map last year with one less House seat. As a result, Boswell and Latham are engaged in one of the only House races between two incumbent Members of different parties this November.
Crossroads GPS bought $77,000 worth of airtime for the new spot to run across the Des Moines and Omaha television markets through March 7, according to a spokesman for the group.
It's clear the Iowa race has become a top target for Crossroads GPS this cycle. The spot is part of more than $370,000 Crossroads has spent on issue advertisements on this House race since late October.
Roll Call rates the 3rd district race as a Tossup.
