Vote with Your Liver at #CocktailCaucus 2015

As anyone who’s covered previous iterations of the Conservative Political Action Conference — the right-wing rally returning to town Feb. 25-28 — can attest, the best part of sitting through the cacophony of stump speeches is getting good and loaded afterwards.

A trio of media outlets is hoping to capitalize on that propensity to get plowed by convincing CPACers to weigh on the field of White House hopefuls via an unofficial “Cocktail Caucus.”

The

straw

swizzle stick poll — a collaboration between Independent Journal Review, the National Review and Facebook — is scheduled to take place at Harrington’s Pub & Kitchen (177 Fleet St., Oxon Hill, Md.) Friday from 6-9 p.m. According to an event organizer, attendees will be presented with a drink ticket that can be traded for one of the specialty drinks prepared from recipes provided by a handful of potential presidential candidates.

Party planners declined to share the full roster of GOP-inspired tipples, but did tell HOH how a certain Texas Republican recommends getting loose:

Ted’s Texas Tea 1/2 fluid ounce vodka 1/2 fluid ounce amber rum 1/2 fluid ounce gold tequila 1/2 fluid ounce triple sec liqueur 1/4 cup sweet-and-sour cocktail mix 1/4 cup cola-flavored carbonated beverage 1 wedge lemon 1 wedge lime
In addition to tracking which pol’s prescribed offering gets poured down the most gullets, party hosts are also hoping to raise a few bucks for a pair of charitable causes (supporting wounded warriors and providing career advancement opportunities for women).

Those hoping to score some free hooch — and possibly hobnob with Republican heavies (“Very likely to have some of the candidates swing by,” our tipster suggested) — should sign their commitment to booze-fueled balloting via Eventbrite .
