Senators are expected to have an extended August recess in 2016, just like their House counterparts.
That's according to a calendar obtained by CQ Roll Call. The schedule calls for the Senate to be out of session from July 18 through Sept. 5, which is Labor Day. As with the House schedule posted earlier Tuesday, the extended state work period aligns with the Republican and Democratic National Conventions in late July.
Senators are due back on Capitol Hill on Jan. 11, according to the calendar.
The Senate and House schedules do not appear to align around the Easter holiday in 2016, with the Senate following the traditional pattern of taking the week before and after the Easter weekend. Easter falls unusually early in 2016, on March 27.
The Senate's target for departing for the 2016 elections is Oct. 7, a week after the House plans to do likewise. The chamber is expected to return from election season on Nov. 14 for a lame-duck session, with a goal of reaching sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress by Dec. 16.
