Sen. Bernard Sanders, I-Vt., was the top presidential candidate discussed in Iowa on Facebook on Monday. On Iowa Caucus Day, the social media site measured users’ conversations from midnight to noon on Feb. 1.  

Sanders led with 42.2 percent of the conversation, double what business mogul Donald Trump received, who came in second with 21.7 percent.  

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was the third most discussed at 13.1 percent, followed by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, at 10.7 percent, and Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., at 4.7 percent.  

Trailing behind Ben Carson, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., was the seventh most discussed at 1.9 percent. All other candidates seeking primary nominations, including former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, received less than 1 percent of attention on Facebook in the 12 hours polled.  

Also in the 12 hours, the most discussed topic on Facebook in Iowa was the economy, followed by same-sex marriage, Clinton’s State Department emails, religion and then the Affordable Care Act.
