Amid the Capitol Hill rancor Tuesday afternoon, Debra Anderson, a top aide for Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-Pa.) reached out to her fellow staffers for some help.
“Hi all,” her email to a listserv for other high-ranking Democratic aides began. “Looking for contact information for Mr. [Roger] Ailes at Fox.
“Can you help?”
Boy, could they.
“Doesn’t he live in a cave above [Whoville]?” one aide asked, referring to the abode of Dr. Seuss’ Grinch.
“I thought he lived in the Death Star,” returned another.
“Right movie, wrong planet,” a Star Wars fan-cum-House staffer explained. “[Ailes’] pleasure cave is on the desert planet Tatooine.” He included a picture of Jabba the Hutt, one of the series’ villains and a crime lord on said planet.
“Ailes lives on the far, far right side of that cave…” a communications director snarked back.
At least one aide wasn’t convinced: “I’m going with he-who-shall-not-be-named.”
Lest there be any confusion, she included a picture of Harry Potter’s evil nemesis, Lord Voldemort.
Then the Star Wars guy came back!
“In all seriousness folks,” he wrote and attached a side-by-side comparison of Ailes and Jabba.
“If I don’t get off this CD listerv, I’m going to lose my mind,” an HOH tipster tells us. “[It’s] really awesome how we blow off steam after the last two weeks.”
It sure is!
So did Anderson ever get Ailes’ contact information?
“I think it’s called end of the year fatigue. Thanks all … I’ve got what I need.”
We can only assume what she needed was one picture of Voldemort, two of Jabba the Hutt and one of Ailes. What? The Grinch doesn’t rate?
