It’s National Golf Day, which means golf industry leaders and PGA Tour winner Billy Hurley III will be on Capitol Hill.

A coalition of golf’s leading organizations, known as WE ARE GOLF, is scheduled to meet with members of Congress to discuss the sports economy and impact.

To mark the 10th annual celebration, WE ARE GOLF has partnered with Topgolf to offer free golf lessons today at all of its 27 venues across the country.

Emergency drill expected in northeast and southeast D.C.

A full-scale exercise is scheduled for today to prepare for the possibility of a complex coordinated terror attack, according to the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. A mock emergency event involving actors will take place at six sites in the National Capital Region, including neighborhoods in the northeast and southeast quadrants of D.C.

More information has not been disclosed, such as exact location and time but it will be after 8:30 a.m. because there is a media availability beforehand about the exercise.

Free pretzels in Rayburn

Today is The Pretzel Bakery’s second annual National Pretzel Day reception. Staffers get a free pretzel from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2167. Del. It's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Turn in all unused prescription mediation, including expired drugs, for safe disposal to Hart Senate Office Building's atrium from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. today. Hart is a federal take back day collection site.

Kyle Buckles has been named communications director for Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn. He takes over for Stefanie Wheeler, who departs on Friday to return to New York and the world of media booking and consulting.

Drew Cole is joining Roberti Global, a bipartisan government affairs and public policy firm, as a partner. He was previously a lobbyist with Quinn Gillespie.
