Oregon Democratic Rep. Kurt Schrader was sworn into Congress on Tuesday after missing the official swearing-in for his honeymoon overseas.

Speaker Paul D. Ryan conducted the swearing-in just after noon and announced that the House membership now numbers 435.

Schrader was elected to his fifth term this year but was out of the country when the rest of Congress was sworn in on Jan. 3.

He missed six roll call votes over the last week, but was not listed as not voting because he was technically not yet a member of the current Congress.

Schrader’s wife is Susan Mora, an executive at Pepco. The couple got married on New Year's Eve in Maryland and honeymooned “out of the country,” a spokeswoman said last week.
