Racing to get up to speed on House dining services is obviously taking a toll on Sodexo’s menu writers.
The jury is still out on whether the food vendor tapped to replace Restaurant Associates will manage to win over congressional patrons (the promised Dunkin’ Donuts should help shore up support from displaced New Englanders). But it’s clear from a photo shared by one dumbfounded client that the pressure to be all things to all people is clearly getting to hospitality workers. As witnessed by a tipster, Monday’s dining options included a “Chicken Souvlaki on Flatbread.” (Sounds scrumptious.)
Except for the fact that on the very next line staff bills stir-fried pork tenderloins as the foundation of the featured wrap.
Now, we here at HOH are all for piling on the marinated proteins (lamb-beef gyros are da bomb!). But it’s somewhat suspect — particularly when factoring in religious beliefs and dietary restrictions — to offer someone poultry and then slip ’em some swine.
Given that things are still getting settled here in the Capitol after the August recess, HOH chooses to believe this was just a simple case of some overworked soul simply cutting and pasting typically compatible dish descriptions from one day to the next.
I mean, it’s not like anyone was trying to pass off broiled fish or oily 'za as garden-fresh greens.
