Relentless cancer warrior James Brandell continues to rake in donations to help vanquish the life-threatening diseases that have encroached upon his inner circle.

His latest fundraising efforts are set to be unveiled Tuesday when he presents his boss, retiring lawmaker and lymphoma survivor Rep. Dave Camp, R-Mich., with a $50,000 research grant bearing his name. Brandell is expected to unveil the honorary award at reception hosted by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Rayburn B-318 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The grant marks the second prize Brandell has helped establish within the past few years; he celebrated the creation of the Mary Ellen Brandell award, named after his late mother, in 2013.

A tireless advocate, Brandell took passing the hat up a notch earlier this year by orchestrating a semi-private screening of his short-lived reality TV career for contributors.

According to an LLS aide, a number of pols have expressed interest in attending this tribute to the outgoing head of the Ways and Means Committee, including forthcoming Ways and Means Chairman Rep. Paul D. Ryan, R-Wis; fellow taxwriters Reps. Charles Boustany Jr., R-La., Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore., and James B. Renacci, R-Ohio; as well as Wolverine State companions Reps. Dan Benishek, Dan Kildee, Tim Walberg and retiring “Dean” of the House John D. Dingell.

Others interested in participating (“Space is limited,” warned one organizer) are strongly encouraged to RSVP to LLS by calling 703-399-2900.
