In its push to freeze efforts to tax Internet access, the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council will be passing out snow cones on Wednesday.
The shaved-ice desserts will be dished up on Delaware Avenue and D Street Northeast for two hours, starting at noon. Planners invite anyone on the Hill to stop by for a free cone.
Though they cater to the recess crowd, SBEC is seeking legislative action. The Virginia-based organization wants the Senate to support a moratorium on Internet access taxes. The Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act, sponsored by House Judiciary Chairman Robert W. Goodlatte, R-Va., cleared the House in June.
HOH hears the selection includes a variety of fruity flavors. Cherry, blue raspberry, watermelon and others will be available.
Organizers say they aim to put Internet access taxes "on ICE."
