What better way to cap off a full day of eating and drinking than by feasting on Caribbean cuisine and salsa dancing the night away?
If that program sounds like musica to your orejas , then the Arepa Zone Launch Party happening Saturday night may be just the ticket.
The latest winner of culinary incubator Mess Hall’s innovative Launch Pad competition is scheduled to claim a spot in Union Market on Aug. 29.
But with a week still to go before experimenting with brick-and-mortar status, the intrepid food truckers are celebrating all they’ve accomplished so far with an all-inclusive fiesta featuring Venezuelan food, local brews, rum-fueled cocktails and lively Latin music.
Arepa Zone will, naturally, be catering the affair — projected to take over Mess Hall (703 Edgewood St. NE) Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. — so expect to munch on fried cheese snacks, meat-and avocado-filled grilled corn cakes, and sweet corn-studded pancakes enveloping assorted savory accompaniments.
Hellbender Brewing Company (D.C., represent!) and Santa Teresa rum (Viva, Venezuela!) are scheduled to handle liquid refreshments.
Those determined to mover el esqueleto can lean on DJ Mario for sonic fulfillment.
Tickets are $35 per person. And guests must be 21 or over to partake in the festivities.
