Need to spruce up your look? Mayhaps it’s time to enroll in the “dapper” lessons Rep. Charles B. Rangel has taken to sharing with congressional aides.

The New York Democrat, who has long been recognized for his
sartorial style — GQ tagged him as one of the “ District Dandies ” in 2012 — is apparently no miser when it comes to doling out fashion tips. In a video released Wednesday, Rangel leads a trio of interns in a bow-tying clinic. VIDEO
“Fingers into the loops … look at yourself and, Wow! Bango!” the 23-term lawmaker
instructs the threesome of gents struggling to don the throwback neckwear.
Rangel spokeswoman Hannah Kim billed the quickie tutorial as something that came about organically.
“He is Mr. Bowtie,” she told HOH, noting two interns had purchased bow ties just this week and had been asking for pointers.
Last month, former New York City Mayor David Dinkins gave Rangel three new bow ties for his birthday — a sign of affection that left Rangel a bit choked up.
“You sure know how to make a brother not only feel good but to look good,” Rangel wrote back in a thank-you note he posted on Instagram. (Bonus points for the Tribe reference, sir!).
Per Kim, the office is game to keep the advice coming. “We want to make it a recurring series and would be happy to take suggestions at @cbrangel,” she said.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, certainly seems interested.
“This is great. Can I send some of my interns over there to learn too?” she commented on social media.
No word on whether one-time
fashion victim Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo., intends to swing by for a consult. GQ likes what it’s seeing from Polis following a recent makeover , but appears inclined to reserve judgment, for now.
