Gephardt Group Government Affairs registered to lobby on three new clients. Canadian private equity firm, Onex Corporation, hired them to lobby on Immigration and tax issues. Former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt (D-MO) and his former chief of staff Tom O'Donnell, as well as Robert Epplin (former legislative director to Sen. Collins), will do the lobbying. Arkansas Best Corporation (AR), a freight transportation services and solutions provider hired the Gephardt firm to lobby on pension reform. Gephardt, O'Donnell, and Scott Brenner (former chief of External Affairs, Science and Technolgy Directorate at the Dept. of Homeland Security), will lobby the issue. YRC Worldwide (KS), a trucking firm, also hired the Gephardt firm to lobby on pension reform.
The Glover Park Group has registered to lobby for Wanxiang Corporation (IL), a chinese automotive parts company. They will lobby on Wanxiang's acquisition of A123, a bankrupt American battery maker. The acquisition did not include the part of the company with U.S. Government and military contracts. A123 got almost $250 million in federal grants for its battery development. Alex Mistri, (former legislative assistant to Sen. Faircloth, former chief of staff to Rep. Bill Shuster, and former Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs) will lobby the issue. UPDATE 3/8: Mercury/Clark & Weinstock has registered to lobby for Wanxiang, using Ed Kutler, former Rep. Vin Weber and Alan Elias.
Americans for Campaign Reform (DC) registered to lobby on campaign reform. Larry Noble (former FEC General Counsel) and Rob Werner Jr. will lobby the issue.
