DNC Spanish Ad Slams Republicans, Backs Obama Jobs Plan

The Democratic National Committee will begin airing a Spanish-language TV ad this weekend in Denver and Las Vegas as part of a push to promote President Barack Obama’s jobs proposal.

The 30-second ad, running in states with significant Latino populations, pits Obama squarely against Republicans. It states that his plan would give families a tax cut averaging $1,500 next year.

“Republicans say no to Medicare, no to financial aid, no to help for the middle class,” a series of speakers say, according to a translation. “They always say no, but they never say why not. Obama is fighting on our side.”

The DNC has previously aired ads aimed at Latino voters, who made up 9 percent of the 2008 electorate and gave Obama 67 percent of their votes.

Past ads aired in Denver; Las Vegas; Reno, Nev.; Orlando, Fla.; Tampa, Fla.; Miami; Albuquerque, N.M.; and Washington, D.C.
